The Cape Aloe Drink is produced from fresh aloe leaves which are peeled, pulped and liquefied. A very small amount of citric acid is added in order to control the pH of the product. As there are no preservatives added, a lower pH is desirable to aid shelf-life. Aloe ferox contains valuable gel-polysaccharides (long-chain sugars), which provide soluble dietary fibre, vitamins, proteins, and a large variety of minerals and trace elements, with a high calcium content. Aloe ferox also contains several of the eight highly-acclaimed simple sugars which are enjoying global recognition for their amazing ability to improve the body’s cell-to-cell communication, thereby helping the body to heal itself. These sugars are marketed as “Glyconutrients”.
To benefit from its soothing and healing properties on the digestive tract or a stomach ulcer. In the same way as aloe gel applied to burned or irritated skin helps to soothe and heal the burn, when PLAIN aloe juice is consumed, it soothes and heals as it passes down the digestive tract. However, blended with fruit juice, it offers a number of nutritional and health benefits, but may also cause further irritation to heartburn, indigestion, stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome and so on. So the short answer is:
•If you’re suffering any of the above ailments, drink the plain Aloe 24/7 Drink.
•If you’re looking for a delicious, healthy alternative to normal, everyday fruit juice, drink any one of Totally Wild’s three aloe & fruit juice blends
The Aloe 24/7 Drink has a bland to slightly sour taste – almost like lemon. The blended juices are really delicious and taste of fresh fruit.
No, the aloe bitter sap is all removed prior to processing.
The soothing effect of aloe has been known to give significant relief to stomach ulcer sufferers. Your best bet here would be to stick to the Aloe 24/7 Drink, and not the fruit blends.
If you’re trying to find relief from discomfort of the digestive tract or a stomach ulcer, “little and often” is the best solution. Start with about 25-30ml, every 2 - 3 hours or so. You can build it up to as much as a bottle (500 ml) per day, depending on your size and body weight. Start slowly and see what works best for you.
We don’t believe that there is any, one product that will work for everybody. However, there is sufficient anecdotal evidence to suggest that significantly more often than not, plain aloe juice (Aloe 24/7 Drink) will offer quick and long-lasting relief for this problem. For “how much to drink”, see above for ulcers.
The Aloe 24/7 Drink is particularly effective for a diabetic diet. It consists mainly of complex polysaccharides which constitutes a source of soluble dietary fibre. The beneficial role of soluble fibre is that it increases the viscosity of ingested food during the early digestive phase in the stomach and upper intestine. This action slows down the digestion of starch and other non-fibre carbohydrates, as well as the absorption of the resultant glucose and therefore the production of insulin is moderated. The Aloe & Fruit Juice blends, on the other hand, may not be suitable. Even though there is no cane sugar added to these products, the natural fructose in the fruit may be too much in a diabetes diet.
